Charles Family Reunion-Day 1

In the morning, we met at Provo Canyon Trail to walk up the path by Bridal Veil Falls.  It was perfect walking weather, and the kids were so excited to see their cousins.  Unfortunately, Charlotte and Atticus didn’t come.  They were so disappointed and kept asking “Are they coming later?”  Sorry girls, but at least Abie Baby was there, right? 🙂

David phoned to say he would be coming, but not until later.  He and the kids drove the entire day from Colorado, and were still a bit groggy and tired.  Totally understandable.  And don’t you love how Sophie’s new backpack totally matches my new running pants? I wanted to be sure everyone could see me. haha

There was lots of shade for most of the walk, which made it very pleasant.  And it was mostly flat, at least at the beginning, so it was easy for little legs.

The fun part was that not everyone walked at the same pace.  So you would start out next to a few people, and pretty soon you were walking next to someone completely new.  So there was lots of opportunity to chat and catch up with everyone.Life of the party, right there. 🙂

The river was so beautiful.  Would have been fun to float down on an inner tube!

We arrived at the Falls pretty quickly.  It’s a very short walk from the parking lot, but we still stopped and played for a tiny bit.

And pose for a few pictures, of course.  Then, since we had barely started walking, we continued up the path a ways. This was definitely a much nicer hike than the failed attempt up the Y!

Uncle “Bob” is always a kid favorite.  They were intrigued with his cool hat.

Sophie doing the exact same thing I used to do; hang out with the moms listening to them talk. 🙂

When we stopped for a little snack and water break, Noah got to wear Uncle Adam’s awesome hat.  Silly boy!

I came prepared with way more food and water than we needed, but it was better than listening to whining, hungry children all morning.  BTDT, Nothx!

After a while, I really couldn’t say how long, we decided to turn around and head back down to the Falls.  It was a very pleasant walk, and some of us could have gone a lot further, but it’s best to stop when everyone is still having a good time.  As we arrived back at the water, guess who was waiting for us?Amelia!  She brought her dad and brothers, too. 🙂  Her hair is so long now, I love it.

The water was pretty cold.  We weren’t sure we really wanted to go in.  But then we all decided to at least dip our toes in.It felt so good on my feet.  The rocks were a bit rough, and I wish I would have brought my Crocs, so I could have walked around more, but it was definitely refreshing and fun. These guys had on proper footwear and went way out and up.Sam chose to risk his neck on a different rock.

Hayden and Simon having run with binoculars.  And some random kid we aren’t related to, nor will ever see again.

We crossed the little log bridge to try and walk up the waterfall.  It was pretty painful, the rocks were very sharp!  But we made it high enough up to please Alexandra.

On the way back to the cars, the Pied Piper of Provo showed up and absconded with all the children. We let him.
