CFR-Day 1 part b

After the walk, David, Steven and Adam decided to take their respective families to Gandolfo’s deli for lunch.  Chris wasn’t sure he wanted to go, so we went home at first.  And caught this deer grazing across the street.    We think it is the same one we saw on several different occasions in the same spot.  The kids were always excited when they went outside to play and the deer was there.

Guess where we ended up at for lunch? At Gandolfo’s with the rest of the gang!  Their sandwiches are sooooo good.  If you ever get a chance to try one, do!

Then we headed over to BYU campus for a little scavenger hunt Oma had set up.  And that’s where we finally saw Charlotte. She has grown up so much since we last saw her in October.  At this young age, a few months makes a big difference.  And she now has an adorable baby brother, Atticus! My kids loved his perfectly round head.  And his round toes, and his round elbows, and his entire circle body. 🙂

Angie had made up enough clues that there were two different groups.  Chris and I went with the older kids, along with Steven and David.  It was really fun, and I thought she had done a great job with it.  We went through the library, the Wilkinson Center, over to the administration building, and even to Aunt Michaela’s office!

The last clue led us to the BYU Creamery inside the Cougareat, where she treated us all to a sweet reward. We had to wait a while in line, behind a huge group of EFY’ers, and they ran out of sugar cones and several flavors of ice cream in the mad rush.  But they still had regular cones and cups, and one of the employees arrived with a giant cart full of backup flavors, so it was all good.  The hardest thing was picking which one to eat, actually. So nice that they give out free tastings to help make the choice easier.

And the giant sized scoops don’t hurt, either.  We seriously love BYU Creamery ice cream.  Thanks Oma and Opa!

We went back to our house, ate a bit of dinner, and then got everyone gussied up for the professional photo shoot up at the park.  My sister-in-law had picked out the colors, so that we would all coordinate and look good.  She did an awesome job and my family looked better than they ever have in a photo. 🙂  We are printing up several copies to hang on the wall, they ended up being that good.  Props to the photographer as well.  Here are some behind the scenes candids Chris took.

The setting was beautiful and the lighting was just right.  It was, however, a bit late for some of the youngest kids, but they did pretty well, considering.

So glad I get along well with my sisters-in-law.  I could hang out with these two ladies all.the.time.

There was a nearby playground where the kids could hang out, while the individual family photos were being taken.  Thank goodness no one fell and ripped their clothes!  I can’t wait to get our pics hung up on the wall.  They turned out so good!
