Weekend Happenings

Saturday morning we all woke up very early, 6:15, and went to the Swiss temple.  It was kind of sunny, can you tell? 🙂

It was Stake Temple Day, and the youth were doing baptisms for the dead.  Chris and I got to help out, and spend the morning with Nicholas.  That was pretty cool.  I learned some new skills, too.  Like how to decide which size jumper to give people to wear, and that every speck of water dripped on the floor must be wiped up immediately.  I am pretty sure that’s just a Swiss Temple rule though, and not an actual worldwide rule.

While we were in the temple the children got to learn about the pioneers.  A couple in our ward actually built little covered wagons the kids could pull all around the temple grounds!  They used them to hold all the fun things they picked up at the different stations set up everywhere.  We picked them up before they had visited all of the spots, and they still came home with a self-decorated pillowcase, a little plant in a pot, and a fluffy cloud mobile.  I really appreciate all the effort and time people are willing to volunteer just so that my children can look forward to going to the temple as much as I do.

Today at church, Chris had to conduct again.  He did it last week also.  The week before that he had to translate half of Stake Conference.  Basically I have been alone with all the kids during Sacrament meeting for too many Sundays in a row.  It is starting to show.

Noah and Sarah were being so noisy, playing I don’t know what kind of game with each other, they couldn’t even hear me shushing them.  Alexandra started whining for a snack before church had even started, and then we discovered I had forgotten to pack any drawing paper in my church bag.  Not good, folks.  Not good at all.  I ended up threatening Noah with an out-in-the-foyer-spanking and then having to sit next to Papa on the stand if he didn’t be quiet.  Sarah got out the finger puppets, which was great, but then she got too loud with those as well.  This also meant Sophie and Alexandra had nothing to do.  Well, I suppose they could have sat and listened to people’s testimonies, but hahahahaha! that wasn’t too likely.

I ended up digging out the emergency hairbrush, you know, the one some kid broke the handle off of, so now it fits in the church bag better.  First I brushed their hair, then Sophie brushed half of my head.  While Alexandra was brushing the other half, Sophie braided some hair for me.  She even pulled out her spare hair band and wrapped it around the bottom when she was done.  I left it that way for the rest of church, cuz that’s just how I roll.  Well, and it didn’t look half bad. 🙂

I will be glad when he can sit with us commoners again next week. They don’t mess with him like they mess with me, little turkeys.
