The Marriage of the Decade

Friday morning we, along with a few other billion people, watched the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.  It was really nice to be able to watch it at a decent hour, not the crack of dawn like some of you had to.  The kids were completely bored with the pre-show commentary, but I watched as much of it as they would let me.

Christ was working from home and had the tv on upstairs turned to a German station covering the wedding the whole time.  He would come down occasionally to share some tidbit the commentators had given on the guests or whatever, and it was usually something the BBC folks had not said.  Funny how what one culture deems important is completely useless to another.:)

I made tea and scones in honor of the occasion.  However, I don’t think my scones would be recognizable to any of my British friends. 🙁  It was the best looking recipe I had found, and they were pretty tasty, just not so pretty.  Alexandra loved drinking her tea out of a real teacup, though!

The kids all settled down to watch when the cars carrying Princes William and Harry started driving down the street.  From then on, we were all pretty much glued to the screen. We postponed lunch for a few hours, so that we wouldn’t miss anything.  It was totally worth it!  It was fun to share it with the kids, and take the opportunity to talk with them a bit about the differences between that and a temple marriage.  The girls mostly liked the fact that there is actual kissing in a temple marriage. 🙂

My only hope is that they are able to work out any differences better than his parents did, and that they have a truly happy marriage.
