Mother’s Day 2011

No long essay today.  Just photos of my kids.  You know, why I get honored this day. Without them, I wouldn’t be me, so it’s only fair they get a big chunk of the glory.

They are walking towards the big field above the house to pick my traditional Mother’s Day bouquet of wildflowers.

I am not really sure what Sarah is doing here, but it was too funny not to post.  They are walking through the farm, cow barn on the left, house on the right, to the street where the field is.

My sweetie picking my favorite purple flowers.

The pitcher is slowly filling up with flowers.  And Papa is trying hard to get a perfect shot for me. 🙂

There’s some happy smiles!

He braved all the tickley grass and potential bugs to get those gorgeous red flowers. So nice!

Don’t they just look so sweet in that big field of color?  Glad Chris took so many photos for me to treasure later.  I was inside enjoying the other half of this gift, a half hour of solitude in a quiet house!

I love the total randomness of this shot.  And of course, only Sophie is looking at the camera. She is her mother’s daughter. 🙂

This one was just too pretty not to post.  And look at all those gorgeous flowers!  I put them in a pretty vase later.  I may not know all their names, like my own mother, but I do so love their simple beauty.

The pitcher couldn’t hold anymore flowers, so it was time to run down the hill, back to Mama!

Oh, but first, lets stop and visit the horses. The farmer doesn’t want the girls feeding the horses, but they are allowed to pet and talk to them as much as they want.

To give me a little extra alone time, they took one last break at the climbing station in front of the house.  Her left leg is swinging free in the air!  She is such a little daredevil.

These two couldn’t be outdone by their little sister.  Don’t you love that dramatic pose Sarah is making?

Finally it was time to come in and eat.  The crockpot cooked delicious goulash from an old Lasko family recipe, straight from Slovakia and then we had melted Easter bunny chocolate fondue with strawberries, bananas and apples for dessert.  A very wonderful, sweet, relaxing Mother’s Day.  Thank you especially to the father of this crazy crew who made sure my special day was actually special. 🙂
