A Royal Visit

Thursday was Epiphany, or Three Kings Day, as it is celebrated here.  In between all the doctor’s visits the day before, Sarah and I found time to run to the store and pick up the special bread they sell just for this holiday.  Actually, we bought two.  Each ring of bread was divided into 6 rolls, and there are seven of us.  Plus, Noah hates raisins, and they were selling some with chocolate bits instead.  So this way, everyone was happy.  Plus it upped my chances of getting the king and not having to do any of my chores that day.  (I even had Chris buy some canned stew in Germany, just in case…)

But alas, it was not be.  Instead, Nick and Alexandra found the little plastic king inside their hunks of bread, and were crowned with all the pomp and circumstance we could muster. 🙂  Nicholas was thrilled to get out of having to do his chores for the day, since he had wash pots that week.  ha!  I also made Riz Kasimir for lunch, even though Papa hates it, because Nick loves it.

Alexandra doesn’t have many chores, I mean she’s only 3.  So instead, she enjoyed getting to sit wherever she wanted, having the children fetch her things, choosing what movie to watch, and regally calling out randomly, “I am the Queen!”  It was pretty hilarious.

Alas, all good things must come to end, and at the stroke of bedtime they were both instantly turned back into regular old peasants. 🙂  But there’s always next year.
