Alexandra found a new favorite game during vacation, chess! I think it started with either Nick or Sophie trying to teach her because they were so desperate for someone to play with them. But now, the tables are turned and Alexandra is always on the lookout for someone to play with her.
I am not sure what she loves more; setting all the pieces on the board in always changing patterns, or smacking her pieces against her opponent's, sending them flying off across the room? Either way, she has a total blast playing and cackles with glee every time she kills another victim. She was playing it so much with me, I finally decided to try and teach her how the pieces actually moved. Don't worry, I didn't get completely insane with her. Just showed her how the pawns move, and how to set the pieces up properly on the board at the beginning. I figure in a few weeks, I can show her how to move the castles and bishops properly and then we can really start to have some fun. And yes, I still always let her win!
So cute. Jasper is the same phase with chess as Alexandra, taking great pleasure in "killing" my players. But Max likes to play and it would be nice for him to play with someone near his age. Maybe Sophie and Max could get a game going sometime?
How cute! Bring Max on over. Sophie would love to play with someone more on her skill level. Nick always creams her, and Alexandra isn't really a challenge.
