Goodbye Grandma!

Monday, May 17th the kids had to go back to school after three weeks of vacation and I had to take my home to the airport for her flight back to the States.  It was such a nice visit, and we were all so sad to see her go.  Sarah got up super early that morning and basically followed Mom around as she packed the last few items, stripped her bed,and ate breakfast.  We had to leave about the time the kids normally got up for school, so they were all awake to give her one last hug and to wave goodbye.  They seemed pretty calm as she left, but that afternoon there were many tears as they reminisced about all the things they had done with her.  So sweet.

It is definitely a strange sensation to feel so protective of your parents, almost as if they are your children.  I really didn't want to just drop her off at the airport, but she kept reassuring me she would be just fine.  And we always just drop off Angie at the airport, and I have no problem with that.  I know she's an adult, she can figure out the way to the check in counter. :)  So why did I feel so guilty about not going in with my mom?  No idea, but she made it home just fine.  No missed flight or lost baggage.  Hurray!

I so appreciate the effort it took her to come visit us, and the sacrifice my dad made being alone the whole time she was here.  They are really two little peas in a pod, and I know he missed her very much.  Thank you both.  This visit was so precious and special.  It really helped solidify the kids' relationship with you, and I loved just having time to hang out with you again.  Can't wait until we can see you again.
