Every night we read in the Book of Mormon, have everyone say one thing they are thankful for, have family prayer and go to bed. Every night, Sarah tells the person who is reading after her what "chapter" they should start on, rather than which "verse". This error drives Nicholas up the wall, and he always corrects her. Well,…last night he handed the book to Sarah and told her to start on "chapter 8" instead of verse 8. He immediately grabbed his head with both hands, gave a moan, and said, "Oh no, now she's got me saying it!" He was crushed.
Sarah and Sophie also have a unique way of saying what they are thankful for. "I am thankful for, that……". This has also recently started bothering Nicholas. He is the self-appointed grammar police in this house, if you hadn't caught on yet. It doesn't bother Chris and I because we know it's just one of those kid things that they will eventually grow out of. And while they are doing it, it's kind of sweet and cute. So we are always telling Nick to just ignore it, but he can't.
Can you tell where this is going? Yes, tonight, when it was his turn to be thankful for something, he said it wrong. "I am thankful for, that.." and he let out a yowl of pain. Seriously, I thought at first he had pinched his toe underneath his chair or something. We didn't realize what he had done at first, we are so used to hearing it said this way. When we figured out what had happened, we all laughed, even Nicholas. The kids may learn the Queen's English in school, but at home we speak our own version.
