Lost tooth, found teeth

Tuesday night Sophie lost her very first tooth, finally!  That thing has been loose since before summer vacation started back in July.  She came out to show me how far she could move it around, and I said. " That thing is barely hanging on.  Maybe we should just pull it." She agreed, but didn't want me to touch it.  She went in the bathroom and yanked on that sucker, and out it came right into her hand.  There was a little bit of blood, but no pain.  She came running out to show me, so excited.  Then she ran around the whole house showing everyone else.  Papa was at a meeting at church and she made me promise not to tell him when he got home, she wanted to tell him.  So I didn't, even though I was really tempted to.

Unfortunately, while she was rinsing out her mouth, the tooth somehow got lost.  She had been holding it in her hand, and then it was just gone.  We all searched everywhere, but never found it.  We think maybe it fell down the drain while she was getting a drink of water.  She was sad for a bit until Nicholas informed her that when you swallow/lose a tooth, the tooth fairy brings you a toy instead of just money.  That bit of news cheered her right up and she happily went to sleep.  The tooth fairy had to make a special trip to bring her toy, so Sophie had to wait an extra day, but then she got a really fun card-making kit with ribbons and rhinestones and all kinds of fun things to make birthday cards for her friends.

Wednesday, the kids and I went to the grocery store.  I bought a cucumber to go in the chef's salad I was making for dinner that night.  Alexandra reached around and grabbed it out of the back of the cart and proceeded to gnaw on it the whole time we were in the store.  I had to wrestle it away from her so the cashier could charge me for it.  Then we handed it right back to her.  She was having so much fun biting it all over.  By the time we got home, this is what it looked like.

The next day I noticed she had a new little tooth just underneath the surface of her gum.  Could explain why biting that cucumber felt so good!

What?! If I had known about the lost/swallowed tooth rule I wouldn't have ever stuck my teeth under the pillow!
