Happy Birthday, Sophie!

If it seems like pretty much every other post is another birthday party, and that is getting kind of tedious to read about, well, I apologize. It's true, but at least you only have to read about it.  I have to plan and decorate and bake for them all!  We have pretty much all our family birthdays in a 6 week span in the summer.  And that isn't even including any extended family.  The birthday calendar I made to help me remember them all  has a birthday almost every single day during July and August.  It is insane! But enough complaining, on to the celebrations!

6 years ago today, at almost the exact time I am writing this, they were prepping me for surgery.  Chris had dropped me off at 6:30 in the morning, sleepy Nick and Sarah were still in their pajamas in their carseats.  He took them back home, got them dressed and fed and took them over to Heidi's house to play, then he drove back to the hospital to be with me.  I remember being very depressed that even though I was actually healthy this pregnancy, I still wouldn't be able to have a vaginal delivery.  The two previous c-sections negated that possibility.  Then, as they were wheeling me past all the labor and delivery rooms to get to the O.R. at the end of the hall, I decided my way wasn't so bad after all.  All that screaming probably had something to do with my change of heart.

Sophie has been an absolute delight her entire life.  We are so happy to have our "frosting in our Oreo cookie".   I like to call her that since she is the middle kid.  Without her, we wouldn't be nearly as tasty, and what would keep us stuck together?

The festivities are going to be slightly out of order today.  We are having Alexandra's cake today, and Sophie's tomorrow.  This was necessary in order to get a decent turnout for Sophie's princess tea party birthday.  Sophie will get to open her family presents today, and she of course started the morning off with her birthday cereal, but the cake will have to wait.  I just couldn't make three cakes in two days, that is illegal in some Kantons, I think. haha
