Sunday morning we woke up to gorgeous weather and excited kids. Seems the Easter Bunny had stopped by and filled all their baskets with delicious goodies.
Mmmhhhmm dark Swiss chocolate bunnies!
Since it was General Conference, and we wouldn't have to rush off to church, I had made an extra effort with breakfast. Late Saturday night I made my first fruit bouquet, and put it in the fridge for morning. I had also ordered some really cute bunny-shaped breads from a frozen food delivery service and had hidden them away in the basement freezer.
We also had juice and hot chocolate to round off our special fancy breakfast. The kids loved it, and I think the fruit bouquets turned out pretty good, considering I had no idea what I was doing!
After breakfast, we sat down to watch the Saturday afternoon session of Conference. I absolutely love modern technology at times like this. The kids used their Easter candy as markers for their Conference bingo game, and even Alexandra played along, with the other kids showing her which squares to mark off.
They sat there completely quiet, listening to every word. So, so nice. Before it was completely over, Chris turned it off so he could go to the old Stake Center in Zurich and watch the Priesthood session there. Next Conference, Nick will be old enough to go with him!
He brought back the Elders with him, and they joined us for our Easter lunch. So that they wouldn't feel left out of all the fun, Sophie and I made these little Easter baskets for them.
Didn't they turn out totally cute? I had gone to the Lindt Chocolate Factory just over the hill and bought some bunnies and pralines to fill their baskets with.
Of course, Sophie and I made sure to taste one of each kind so that we didn't give them any that contained alcohol. That would be considered pretty bad form, I think!
While lunch finished cooking, we watched the rest of the afternoon conference with the missionaries. After lunch, we watched some of the Sunday morning session together, then Chris
drove them down to the train station. When he got back, we watched the rest of it, then it was time for dinner and bed. The kids were having such a good time listening to conference and playing bingo, that they wanted to stay up and watch the Sunday afternoon session as well. But that didn't start until 10 at night, our time, and they are way too young to stay up that late. We told them we would watch the rest for Family Home Evening, and that seemed to mollify them. It was a fantastic Easter and I am so glad we were able to spend it feeling the Spirit most of the day.
