So, even though Sarah’s puppy party was first, it was actually Sophie’s original idea. Thankfully, half the prep work had already been done, otherwise I may have gone certifiable. Still had to sew more puppies and decorate pupcakes, but at least I had more of the right ingredients thanks to our visit to the States. 🙂
We set up the puppy obstacle course slightly different. We had more of it on the carpet, to protect little knees, and we played the rest of the games outside since the weather was so nice. Sophie and Mackenzie ended up tying and having a face off for the feed the puppy game. And even though they had been on the grass, the girls ended up eating most of the gingerbread bones. I guess they were just THAT good. haha
Then we played several rounds of Hide the Bone. There were a couple girls who had lots of trouble finding their bones. That would be because Johanna was such as good hider. She stuck it way up in this bush, risking scratches and leaves in her hair, to get it in just the right spot. Apparently, the other girls weren’t willing to go to such lengths to find a cardboard bone. She ended up having to retrieve them herself. 🙂
The dog trainer game was a big hit, especially since most of the girls had their own dogs at home, and knew all the correct commands. And the grass was much softer and conducive to rolling around and acting silly. I think they all enjoyed it, they didn’t want to stop playing!
Finally we went back inside to open presents. I am always so happy at how gracious my kids are during this part of their parties. They are always grateful and positive for every gift, no matter what it is. I especially love that they take the time to examine and appreciate each gift individually, and then thank the giver, before moving on to the next present. And I honestly don’t remember sitting down and teaching them that. It’s just something they do. Sometimes you just get lucky, I guess! 🙂 I mean, seriously, check out these good manners!
Then we went over to the table for candles and pupcakes. I ended up not making the blue ones for Sophie’s party, and it was just as well. They weren’t the hit that they were at Sarah’s party. And almost no one ate the delicious marshmallow noses. 🙁
Silly girls. After cake, they worked on their stuffed dogs until it was time to go home. That part they loved. Especially naming their puppies and choosing decorations for the collars. Oh, and just because they are so cute, here is the version of pup cups I made for Sophie’s party.
These were much faster, since Real had actual solid white paper cups. I love shopping in Germany. contented sigh And I did the collars in Sophie’s favorite colors. Happy party, sweetie! I love you!
