Sarah got a hold of the camera during Uncle Tom’s last visit and took a whole bunch of silly photos. I didn’t discover them until much later, after we were home. There were tons of shots of crazy little things around the house, like the different lightswitches, the different outlets, the heater vents in the floor. Basically anything that was different from what we have in Switzerland. These are some of the highlights. 🙂
I didn’t mention in my birthday post about these flowers. On the evening of my birthday, after everyone but Jenna had gone home, there was a little knock on the door. I went to open it and there stood Jeff and Adam holding this bouquet of flowers. They immediately started singing me “Happy Birthday”, and when they were done, Michaela, Maddie, and Lucas also appeared to wish me happy birthday. It was a really fun surprise, and so thoughtful.
We had no toys to speak of at the house, so to keep the kids entertained we bought them this Star Wars puzzle. The boys spent one afternoon putting it all together. We then bought a second, different one, just before we went home, they liked the first one so much.
With the cool 3-d sidewalk chalk Sarah got from Aunt SunDee for her birthday, the kids drew this picture in front of our house. It is Uncle Tom and Aunt Kathy. Why he looks like her little boy instead of her husband I have no idea. But the 3-d part really works! Of course, with the glasses on, not in the picture. 🙂
The kids have been big fans of La-Z-Boy style chairs ever since they stayed at Grandma Lasko’s house 4 years ago, and she had two! When they saw that our rental house had one, they were in heaven. And the fighting over who got to sit in didn’t last too long. I quickly made up a schedule of what kid got to sit in it, what days. Seemed to work for the rest of the trip.
I am not sure if I have mentioned this before or not. In the upstairs bathroom, there was a space in between the walls. The resulting hole went all the way down to the floor of the laundry room below. A laundry chute! The kids loved dropping their clothes down there every night. Occasionally they would drop other things as well, but fortunately no children tried to go down it. Chris worried about that scenario the entire time we were there.
