We thought it would be fun to take a few pictures of the rental house and surrounding area, so we could remember it long after the trip was over.
Everyone but Chris loved the American-style beds. Yes, they were a little high and hard to get into (Alexandra perfected a running jump entry) but they were so soft! Now that we are back home, we took our feather comforters, folded them over double and put them under the fitted sheet, to make the mattress more like the American one.
This is looking from the balcony off the master bedroom into the neighbor’s backyard. That little house belongs to Angel, the dog. We heard him barking a lot during the day, although it was never really so long that it was annoying, or concerning. But sometimes we saw him loose on the street and in our own yard. The kids did not like this at all. Fortunately he wasn’t a mean dog, just an overly friendly one. When I would command him in a stern voice to “go back home, Angel” he would do just that. Most of the time. 🙂
Again, from the master balcony onto part of the backyard. The lower roof is the garage, and the steps leading down to the larger, lower patio. There was a neighbor boy who came twice to mow the lawn while we were there. And the hot tub man came once as well, but we never did go in it. Not Chris’ thing, and I was usually out shopping at night. haha
During my birthday party Alexandra got trapped in this window well, twice. The other kids were big enough to climb in and out of it by themselves, but she could only get in, not out. She was, however, big enough to be too heavy for them to pull her out themselves. Someone was always sent in to get an adult to rescue her. You think she would have learned the first time! At least she was never hurt, just her pride.
Kicking back on my new laptop. Such a fun new toy.
Chris bought this t-shirt at Wal-mart the first Saturday we were in the States. The kids LOVED it. Not his usual attire, that’s for sure.
The refrigerator came with a water and ice dispenser in the door. Pretty standard for Americans, totally exciting and exotic for our kids. Noah must have drunk 2 liters of water a day, just because he could fill up his cup in such a fun way.
