End of the year Kinsky party

Noah isn't leaving Kindergarten this year, but all the children and their families were invited to a barbecue at the school to celebrate the kids who are "graduating" on June 30th.  It was the kickoff to an absolutely outrageously busy three weeks.  So many activities and events, that I had to write out a huge calendar by hand to fit them all in every day.  Otherwise I would have missed something, or forgotten something, and the child affected may have never forgiven me.  Now that they are all over, and I have had a bit of time to recover, I can tell you all about them. 🙂

The theme in Noah's kindergarten for the past couple of months has been Indians.  As in, Native Americans, but they still call them Indians here. sigh  The kids had a blast painting cardboard headdresses and gluing in colored feathers all over.  They loved eating snack every morning in the gigantic teepee set up in the playground, with hay bales inside for benches, and a cardboard totem pole that the kids each got to help paint.  They also got to paint white t-shirts with fringe cut into the bottom hem, and wore them often for different activities at school.  They also learned a couple little songs which they sang to us at the beginning of the party.  They were all dressed up in their shirts and headdresses, and looked so cute!  (But of course, the camera was not anywhere useful at the time. 🙁 )

The children who were leaving, and their parents, all got together and made/bought gifts for the two teachers and presented them to rounds of applause.  Then it was time to grill and eat.  It was a very casual party.  Everyone needed to bring their own meat, their own plates, cups, and silverware, and then a salad or dessert to share.  Drinks were provided by the teachers.  Chris had come straight from work to join us, but hadn't been feeling well all day.  The longer he sat there, the worse looking he got.  Very pale and clammy skin, and a horrible headache.  We sent him home, and said he could come back and pick us up with the car in about 90 minutes.  At least he got to see the cute singing at the beginning.

The grill was in high demand, so I didn't have a chance to put our sausages on for a good 30 minutes or so.  Fortunately, the buffet table was loaded down with lots of different salads and bread, and the kids happily ate those while waiting for the main course.  By the time the sausages were cooked, everyone was busy playing with the other kids.  But they would occasionally stop by and stuff a bite into their mouths, before running off again.  But then the dessert buffet was officially opened, and that stopped them in their tracks.  Before the last sweet morsels were swallowed, Chris came and it was time to pack up and go home.  He patiently waited (hid) in the car while we said our goodbyes, and then it was off for home and bed.
