"I love you, and you love me!"

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!  Even though we have early morning church, the kids and I were really excited to have heart-shaped waffles for Valentine's.  We just made sure to get up a few minutes earlier, so we would have time to enjoy them.  Naturally, we had homemade red strawberry syrup and whipped cream to top them off with as well.  So good!

My dad always gave us kids Valentine's every year.  It is a tradition I have kept up and added to a bit.  A few years ago, my mom picked up some cute Target mailboxes for each of the kids.  That is where I have put their treats ever since. This year, along with their chocolates, I also made each of them a beaded book thong.  The mailboxes were waiting for them on the floor next to each of their beds when they woke up.  Such a simple thing, but they were so happy to find their surprises.

After church, the girls helped me set the table really fancy for our lunch.  White tablecloth, cheer cups, my new Gmunder Keramik red plates, and confetti made from red hearts and silver cupids.  Sophie even folded the red napkins super fancy and placed one small red heart in the center of everyone's plate.  Why no pictures, Mom?  I don't know, kids. :(  We had stuffed red peppers, that actually did look a bit heart-shaped once cooked, a veggie tray with raw red peppers and cherry tomatoes, and naturally, red Kool-Aid to drink. :)  For dessert, we had some of the leftover heart-shaped brownies from the Faith in God activity the day before, along with ice cream and strawberry sauce from breakfast.

That evening, we attended a baptism at our former Stake Center in Zurich, and I brought along all the heart-shaped cookies that never got delivered to the rest of our neighbors.  But, it ended up being the right decision.  There were several American Elders in attendance, who all said that their mom's always made the same cookies on Valentine's day, and they had been missing them.  So my cookies were a great addition!  Despite all the hub-bub, it was a great Valentine's Day weekend.  I am so grateful that I have so many people in my life to love.
