Ever since we returned from Paris, the kids have been much more adventurous in their choice of fillings for our weekly crepes. At the little roadside stand near the Eiffel Tower where we bought some for lunch, the menu had about 30 different options for what could be put inside. My kids tend to choose the same 4 things over and over, nutella, nutella and peanut butter, plain yogurt and jam, powdered sugar and lemon juice. While delicious, they aren't very exciting.
Upon our return, they now will try cheese, ham and cheese, cream cheese, applesauce with cinnamon sugar, cinnamon sugar and chopped nuts, salami and cream cheese, and whatever fruit I slice up with plain yogurt. Then one night, Sophie got a little over adventurous. She put in kiwi slices, and then salami. We told her that no matter how bad it tasted, she would have to eat it. She agreed, and took the first bite. Apparently, her rapturous exclamations of how delicious it was, was enough to have Nick try it as well. He also exclaimed it wonderful. I think any meat combined with any fruit is pretty disgusting, but these two thought it was excellent.
A week later, there was no kiwi to go with her salami, so Sophie tried substituting sugar. That was just so bizarre, I made Chris go get the camera. Noah isn't a fruit guy, but he has no problem with sugar:) so he also sprinkled some on his salami. They both ate it up and decided that any time I would let them, that is what they were having in their crepes. (shudder)
