Michaela and co. spent the last couple of months in France, back in the same house and town where they were three years ago. On their way to Austria to visit Michaela's brother, they stopped by for a couple of nights at our house. We were thrilled to see them, although it was very disappointing to the kids that they couldn't stay longer. But we made good use of the time, going on a nice long walk on Sunday, playing constantly except for when they had to stop to eat or sleep, and generally enjoying their company. It was just Madeleine and Lucas, as Thomas and William went back to the States already with Jeff. The kids were sad they didn't get to see Uncle Jeff, he is always full of such fun stories.
Nicholas was sick all Sunday, unfortunately, but Lucas played very nicely with Noah instead. They really are such fun, nice kids. Madeleine even consented to sleep in the girls' room one night and they stayed up talking and giggling until quite late. We just let them, they don't get to see her very often and they just idolize her. Michaela and Lucas even folded a bunch of laundry for me, which was way nice, and Lucas entertained Alexandra in the evenings after the other kids had gone to bed.
It was really great to see them again. I said to Chris on Saturday night after we had gone to bed, "The nice thing about Michaela is even when you haven't seen her for a long time, as soon as she is here, it's like no time has passed at all." We miss you guys already, and can't wait to see you next summer! Thanks for making the detour to come see us!
